President of the Republic honours vic

In the name and capacity of Personal Representative of the Head of State, President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE on December 16, 2022, in a solemn ceremony in Eseka, inaugurated the Stele erected in memory of the victims of the Eseka train accident of October 21, 2016.

It was a convergence of the old, young, children, babies; a mammoth crowd with distinguished personalities such as Members of Government, Members of Parliament, Governors of the Centre and Littoral Regions, Presidents of the Centre and Littoral Regional Councils, Roving Ambassador Roger Milla, General Managers, religious and traditional authorities, amongst others, that this august ceremony took place.

All those who took to the rostrum like the Mayor of Eseka Municipality and the representative of the local elite- Madam Pauline Irène Nguene, passed a message of sympathy to the families of victims but were resolute that Eseka has to move on in development.

The Personal Representative of the Head of State, President of the Republic, the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE, in his speech engaged the population by addressing the guests in the Bassa vernacular. He relayed the condolences of the Head of State and his assurance to see the natives of the land through the tragic incident. He indulged the natives of the locality to maintain calm, accept the situation and forge ahead. He equally pleaded on them to accept the items presented to the population.

Some catchy moments of the ceremony

  • Some two hundred choristers carrying the flag of the nation, in a solemn procession executed a tribute song. This transcended a message of complete solidarity and fraternity of the Cameroonian people, rallied behind their illustrious Head of State, President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, to pay tribute to the victims of the 2016 Eseka train accident.
  • Dressed in traditional regalia representing the four cultural zones of Cameroon, some eighty Cameroonians with candles, representing the eighty victims of the 2016 Eseka train accident, engaged in a solemn procession. The light from these candles metaphorically, are said to shine on the souls of the victims, for their souls to rest in peace.
  • Still in traditional attires representing the four cultural zones of Cameroon, there was a display of patrimonial rhythms in celebration of the victory of life over death.
  • Inauguration of the Stele erected in memory of the victims of the Eseka train accident of October 21, 2016, by the Personal Representative of the Head of State, President of the Republic, the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE.
  • Cutting of the symbolic ribbon and the unveiling of the commemorative board by the Personal Representative of the Head of State, President of the Republic, the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE.
  • Ecumenical service with a college of clergymen, where they were unanimous that the land of Eseka in particular and Nyong and Kelle in general is not cursed but see development sprouting from this incident.
